  • Spring Festival Culture of two 20s- The Year of Rat comes in a pair

    The New Taipei City has launched a series of “Spring Culture” activity every spring festival. The year 2020 is no exception. We cordially invite everyone to join our cultural activities and create your own special memory of the festive season.

    Prize through your fingertip
    The New Taipei City Cultural Affairs Bureau will also upgrade their cultural activities in 2020, to acknowledge the arrival of the year of rat, the head of the Zodiacs. It will be the Bureau’s first attempt to engage members of the public through online games. You will have the opportunity to win a special prize through your fingertips.

    Spring Couplets and Red Envelope
    The festival is the time for a new set of spring couplets, and red envelopes at the ready. In New Taipei City, on Saturday, January 18 at 2 pm, calligraphers will put their brush to work on site at the Yingge Ceramics Museum, Tamsui Heritage Museum and the Lin Family Mansion and Garden. Their spring couplets promise to bring you endless thrill of the festive season before the holiday arrives. On Sunday (January 19) the DIY Workshop at Fort San Domingo will launch “Colorful Red,” an activity for new immigrant instructors from Vietnam to paint red pockets on site.

    Abundant gifts come with the golden rats
    On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Yingge Ceramic Museum has prepared “Year of Rat” gifts for the first 168 of their visitors. Later, on the fifth day of the year, the first 30 visitors will be awarded the special spring couplets with calligraphy “emulating the Yen Style.”
    During the holiday season, Gold Museum will launch “Two make a union,” inviting a mystery VIP to distribute 202 shiny “golden tarts” to visitors as we usher in year 2020.
    Tamsui Her i t age Museum wi l l b ring about “Wholeheartedly- Greeting the Tidu Facebook” activity. You are invited to be part of our prize draw by posting a season’s greeting on the Museum Facebook page, and tag a friend. We will select 10 lucky winners for our special gifts afterwards.
    On the second and third days of the Lunar New Year, Yi-ching specialists will be stationed at the Lin Family Mansion and Gardens from 2 pm onwards to provide the 2020 forecast for visitors. The service is limited only to ticket holders. It is an opportunity not to be missed.

    The Year of Rat Begins with Wonderful Performance
    From the third to the fifth day of the New Year, a series of performances will be available at the Yingge Ceramics Museum. It includes the performance of A Root 2016 from Yilan on the third day, the percussion ensemble on the fourth, and the diabolo show on the fifth. At the same period, from 2 pm to 3:30pm each day, the Shisanghang Museum will present children’s theater and indigenous performance on its ground floor entrance. The Sheng Ping Cinema at the Gold Museum will screen the classic comic Taiwanese opera “Kitchen Knife, Hatchet and Razor.” “Mu King Crosstalk Ensemble,” the most anticipated crosstalk performer in Taiwan, will present their latest ensemble “Let’s Dine, Let’s Fun” each day from 1:30 pm onwards at Lin Family Mansion and Gardens.

  • Little Monsters – CHEN Weu Chu Solo Exbition

    These adorable and imaginative little beasts are based on the appearance of real animals. They are based on the artist`s reflection upon childhood and fragments of the past, and are means for the interpretation of one`s inner self. The show will open up endless possibility on the exploration of your internal landscape.

  • Grand Tour of Tea: An Amazing Adventure

    This exhibition traces the expansion of tea through artifacts found along historic trade routes. Discover how tea became the most popular drink in the world, crossing borders and becoming part of local cultures, to play a key role in the shifting geopolitical landscape. Co-curated by the New Taipei City Pinglin Tea Museum and the National Museum of History.

    Take the MRT to Xindian Station. Transfer onto the Xindian Bus Service, and take the 923 or Green 12 (G12). Get off at the stop for Pinglin Junior High School. The Museum is a 5-minute walk away.

  • Tamsui Fort Gallery

    The Huwei Fortress was constructed in the aftermath of the Sino-Franco War. The Museum has transformed the fortress into a military history center. Having incorporated the audio-visual interactive facilities and lifesize cannons, the fortress and the connecting, de facto military camps will retell the battle`s profound influence upon Tamsui.
