    New Taipei City Social Inclusion Art Festival” is the first Taiwanese festival that makes cultural equality its core principle. It connects all cultural establishments within the New Taipei City proper, and incorporates various arts and cultural events into different corners of the city. The aim of this festival is to make art more accessible to our citizens, to enable an equal-opportunity presence on stage, and to establish an inclusive yet culturally diverse community.
    A wonderful repertoire of programs would be showcased from now till October. In June, “Library as a Real Person” guides us to explore the endless possibility of one’s body with wheelchair Dancesport Champion, Lin Xiu-xia. In August, in partnership with British Council, we will have Alex Fox, Dean of the Brighton University School of the Arts, to give a lecture. From July to October, Tamsui Heritage Museum will collaborate with Godot Theater Company, and launch the first living history program, “My Special Grandparents, My Special Home.”

    The title, “Experiment,” suggests the exploration into the unknown and the persistence and determination for continued trial and error. Through brand new techniques, narrative methods and plot structure, the animators have created a unique artistic style yet unseen in the contemporary mainstream animation. In this exhibition, visitors will be able to glimpse into the origin and artistic development of “experimental animation,” and its evolution and use of materials in the digital era. The latest AR technology allows visitors to try out cutting-edge animation techniques, to experience the various elements of experimental animation, and the creativity that involved through the clash between the East and West. Imaginative possibility in experimental animation is boundless and awaits your exploration.

    “I expect Rain in April,” “Big Wind Blow,” indigenous music and pop songs are integral parts of Taiwan’s musical memory. Yet how many of these songs have you heard before? Fazioli Choir, formed by a group of passionate vocalists, has committed themselves to the cultivation of the art of Taiwanese choir music. In Lin Family Gardens, the Choir will present various Taiwanese classics that have never gone out of fashion so that the audience can revisit that tender remembrance. The Lin Family Garden invites you to enjoy a musical feast of beauty and nostalgia, to experience the magic of the Island’s musical treasure.

    In this special exhibition, the “Unveiling of Zhisha teapot in the international arena” is a collaboration effort with the Graduate institute of Art History, National Taiwan University. During the planning stage, Professor Ching-Fei Shih and her team of eight students worked closely with the Museum, and oversaw the research of Zhisha teapots, the opening of crates, and the selection of exhibits and installation of the exhibition. On Sundays, May 13 and 27, and June 10, the team will provide free guided tours in the museum. The students have designed their own routes, which will provide visual representation to the audience through the guided tour. Your participation will help boost the students’ hands-on experience, and help the professional development of our aspiring art historians.

    The job of an archaeologist is similar to that of a historical detective. He or she searches for evidence in excavated objects and prehistoric traces, and pieces together step by step the picture of prehistoric life. Two brand new permanent exhibitions of the Museum, “Archology Workstation” and“ Shihsanhang Life” will enable our visitors to follow the analytical procedures of an archaeologist. Through hands-on activities, introductory videos and object replicas, visitors will be able to understand the analytical methods used by archaeologists, and develop advanced understanding of the life in the Shihsanhang settlement through a systematic approach to archaeological objects.
