  • 2017 Music Star Concert

    In a move to encourage more gifted young musicians to put their potential to play and shine on stage, this year, the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the New Taipei City has once again organized a series of ‘Music Star’ concert, featuring some of the most impressive new talents in the industry. Ten musicians were selected for the Concerts this year.
    A Crossover Extravaganza!
    Every selectee musician has shown great potential, and is able to bring a variety of performances into the concerts, ranging from classical, folk to crossover, satisfying music aficionados of all backgrounds. Apart from the wide genre, the musicians will perform with various instruments, including piano, strings, winds and traditional instruments, regaling our audience with music feast unlike any others.

  • 2017 New Taipei City North Coast International Kite Festival

    Venue:Baishawan Beach in Shimen District

    The 2017 New Taipei City North Coast International Kite Festival will kick off with a bang in the Baishawan Beach in Shimen District. This year’s event is graced by the Asian Kite Forum, and more than hundreds of expert kite flyers from Brazil, Argentina and USA, as they learn and emulate. They will beautify the skies of the Coast with a remarkable collection of kites. It’s an event not to be missed!
    Great Whale and Taiwan Blue Magpie Dazzle the Northern Sky
    The themes of the festival this year include ‘Ecology, Preservation and Ocean. The beautiful Taiwan blue magpies are transformed into kites as they spread their wings in the sky above the North Coast. The Kenny Kite Family from Malaysia will bring their gigantic 30-metre long great whale kite. Kite flyers from Argentina, who are visiting Taiwan for the first time, will bring with them their octopus soft kites. It’s an ecological extravaganza by New Taipei City’s magnificent North Coast.
    Local Pupils and Master Kite Maker to preserve the Kite-making Culture
    The Kite Craft Exhibition this year will showcase the work of local pupils and Jin-zhen Huang, respectively. Huang, an internationally renowned kite maker, creates unique artisan kites with cloths dyed by the Tie Guanyin tea, a Shimen specialty.
    Firework and Kites to illuminate the Nightly Sky
    The opening day will feature the ‘Romantic Firework’ and ‘Moonlight Kite’ performance in the evening. Other activities include ‘North Coast Farmer’s Market’, ‘Kite DIY’ and ‘collecting stamps for memorable gifts.’ The management has also organized the North Coast Day Trip for our visitors. Free shuttle bus will be available at the MRT Hungshulin Station.

    MRT-->Please take the Red Line to Tamsui Station, then take Dan Shui Bus No.863 to North Coast & Guanyinshan National Scenic Area( Baisha Bay ) and walk 5 minute.

  • The Enchanting Chinese Gardens

    Venue: The Lin Family Mansion and Garden

    Architectural structure and landscaping in the Chinese-style gardens, apart from serving practical purposes, also have to blend with the nearby water features, rocks and plants. For the buildings are not to be intrusive to the beauty of the garden. They have to be both a part of the garden, and to accentuate the idyllic beauty of its landscape. Make time to enjoy the intrinsic elegance of Chinese-style garden at the Lins’ family mansion and gardens in your next visit!

    CAR-->Take Heping West Rd. Sec. 3 in Taipei, over Huajiang Bridge and proceed along Wenhua Rd., turn right on Minquan Rd., then make a left turn. The Garden is next to the Banqiao Second Stodium.

    BUS-->Take bus number 264,307,310,701,702 and alight at Lin Family Mansion and Garden stop to reach Banqiao’s Lin Family Mansion and Garden

    MRT-->Take Banqiao Line (Blue line) to Fuzhong MRT Station, and leave by Exit 1. The Garden is an 8-minute walk from the station.

  • Extraordinary Vessels: National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, Yingge Branch Ceramic Art Exhibition

    Venue: New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum/3F Citizen Ceramics Platform

    The purpose of vessels evolved from the original intended use of containing physical things to carrying tangible and intangible meanings. In the tangible sense, they are the collective term for average containers. In the intangible sense, they are a metaphor for the tolerance exercised by the learned.

    CAR-->Exit Sanying Interchange on National Highway No. 3, pass over Sanying Bridge (in the Yingge direction), and proceed along Wenhua Rd. to public parking lot.

    BUS-->Take Taipei Bus No. 702, No. 917, No. 851, No. 981; or take a Taoyuan Bus Co.bus to Yingge.
    TRAIN-->Take a commuter train to Yingge train station, the museum is a 10-minute walk from the Wenhua Rd. exit.

  • Virtual Reality for the Underwater Archaeological Site

    Venue: Shihsanhang Museum of Amphitheater, New Taipei City/1F Discovery Center

    The S.S. Bokhara was discovered near Gupo Islet. In 1892, the ship set off from Shanghai, but sank in a typhoon. The incident was reported at the time by the international press. Because there were crowns and large amounts of gold and silver coins dredged up from the sunken ship, it was also called the “Prince Ship”. Now, you just need to pick up and put on the goggles and enjoy the virtual reality about the S.S. Bokhara.
