    The highly anticipated“2017Curtain Raising–‘Where Creativity Flourishes–Salon Aesthetics’”will take the stage in the New Taipei Arts Center. The salon, organized by New Taipei City’s Bureau of Cultural Affairs and the Golden Bough Theater, will take place in the New Taipei City Arts Center. Professional theater artists would serve as our lecturers. “Where Creativity Flourishes – Salon Aesthetics,” presented by our highly acclaimed creative specialists, offers you a rare glimpse into the creativity and innovation that take place behind the curtain.

    The Salon lecture series are all about music, makeup and stage designs in the theater environment, and they address interdisciplinary nature of performing arts. We invite those interested in the theater come and meet the artists in person, and join them for a journey to a fantastical world of performing artists behind the curtain, for a summer abuzz with creative sparks. The admission per session is NT$50, as we want to make sure that you are treated to an experience of arts, performances at the most affordable price. Tickets are currently available for purchase on the NTCH Ticket System. You are eligible for discounts when you visit shops surrounding the Arts Center by presenting your ticket stub. We want you to double the enjoyment during your visit that is both artistically inspired and entertaining in the warm summer afternoons.

  • 2017 Taiwan Ceramics Awards

    Taiwan Ceramics Awards, organized by the New Taipei City Government in the spirit of recognizing role models, creating the future, and enriching the present is aimed to promote ceramic art and take it to a new level. The Achievement Awards, The Creative Awards, and The Avant-garde Award are launched to further vitalize Taiwan’s development of ceramics and broaden the horizons for the art form and the industry. With the Taiwan Ceramics Awards, we acknowledge the achievements and contributions by the forebears of Taiwan’s ceramic art and ceramics industry while discovering new forms, techniques, styles from new generations of ceramics artists and artisans, offering them an arena to demonstrate their talents, so that they become better prepared for realizing their dreams and bringing Taiwan’s ceramics to the rest of the world.

    Pottery master exhibition

    This year’s winner of the Achievement Award, artist Liu Chen-chou, has long dedicated himself to teaching ceramic art to multiple generations while introducing new ideas to Taiwan’s ceramics circle. Many active ceramic artists had studied with him, and their work is a testament to Liu’s contribution to Taiwan’s ceramics education. The Creative Award honors growth in ceramics specialty and creative work, so that examples are established for promoting ceramic art and demonstrating the vibrant creativity in the art form. The jurors finally select two for the Creative Awards, five for the Special Jury Prize, and 25 official selection s.This is the first year for the Avant-garde Award, which honors young ceramic artists and researchers of outstanding innovative achievements in the artistic

    philosophy, techniques, forms, textures, and new materials in ceramic art. The jury selected this year’s winners Lu Yen-yu and Hu hui-chin. Their recent works are featured this year, and their joint exhibition will be held in 2019 to showcase the results of their projects.

    CAR-->Take Heping West Rd. Sec. 3 in Taipei, over Huajiang Bridge and proceed along Wenhua Rd., turn right on Minquan Rd., then make a left turn. The Garden is next to the Banqiao Second Stodium.
    BUS-->Take bus number 264,307,310,701,702 and alight at Lin Family Mansion and Garden stop to reach Banqiao’s Lin Family Mansion and Garden

    MRT-->Take Banqiao Line (Blue line) to Fuzhong MRT Station, and leave by Exit 1. The Garden is an 8-minute walk from the station.

    Floating Interpretation―Ceramics Solo Show of Su, Shu-mei

    The exhibition presents ceramist Su, Shu-mei creation style in recent two decades. The piece of work is comprised of numerous spiral-shaped items which appeared to be wriggling worms in the dark abyss yet could also be rusted iron bars, cold and hard.

    CAR-->Exit Sanying Interchange on National Highway No. 3, pass over Sanying Bridge (in the Yingge direction), and proceed along Wenhua Rd. to public parking lot.

    The Shihsanhang Museum of Archeology offers an adventure version of marine exploration virtual reality game for both children and adults to take up the challenges of a series of missions, including capturing the flying fish, feeding little fish, as well as touching-the-bubbles, and to explore the world of maritime cultural heritage.
