Atayal tribal culture has no script, with history traditionally passed on by woven patterns. The materials traditionally used in crafts were local bamboo, wood and rattan. Most objects created were for everyday use, exemplifying the practical, down to earth nature of the people.

An Oceanic Adventure in Virtual Reality

Venue: Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology, New Taipei City Government

Due to the limitations in diving technology of the past, underwater adventures and marine archaeology were shrouded in veils of mystery. This year, the New Taipei City Shihsanhang Museum of Archaeology became the first museum establishment in Taiwan to launch a game on oceanic adventure. The game features virtue reality technology that allows participants to act as adventurers and uncover the antiquities buried in the heart of the oceans. It seeks to inspire public interest in marine history and heritage.
